Job vacancy: chairman of the Leiden University Student Platform
The Executive Board is seeking a chairman for the Leiden University Student Platform (LUS) for the 2016-2017 academic year, with effect from 1 September 2016.
The LUS is the platform from which students advise the Leiden University Executive Board on teaching and student affairs. The platform is also responsible for awarding the Leiden Teaching Prize each year during the opening of the Academic Year.
The platform has an independent chairman who promotes the interests of students; the chairman is supported by one student from each faculty in organising the different meetings
In addition to the general advisory activities, the chairman also organises regular themed meetings in which groups of students breakfast with the Executive Board to talk about teaching at the University. The Chairman of LUS also presents the Leiden Teaching Prize at the opening of the Academic Year each year in September.
broad experience as a committee or board member, including within the Leiden academic community;
at least 1 year to devote to chairmanship; re-appointment is possible;
a network of student contacts within the University and its faculties;
the ability to lead student assemblies and internal meetings of the student platform;
the skills to actively promote and represent the interests of students;
excellent communication and motivational skills;
8 hours per week available for this role;
the ability to maintain contacts with diverse organisations and staff within and outside Leiden University.
Leiden University provides an allowance for these activities.
